2020-21 Stafford County Democratic Committee Reorganization Caucus

Pursuant to the Democratic Party of Virginia’s Party Plan, the Stafford County Democratic Committee must reorganize every two years at a reorganization caucus.  At the reorganization caucus, Democrats in Stafford County will have the opportunity to elect new members to the Stafford County Democratic Committee.  Any candidate for election to the Stafford County Democratic Committee who has filed and who is unopposed shall be declared elected at this meeting.  

Time and Place of the Reorganization Caucus

The reorganization caucus will take place in the Stafford County Board of Supervisors Chambers, 1300 Courthouse Road, Stafford, VA 22554 on Saturday, January 18, 2020.  Doors will open at 9:30 a.m. and the caucus will begin promptly at 10:00 a.m.  Anyone not inside the Board Chambers at 10:00 a.m. may not participate in the reorganization caucus but will be invited to participate in the first meeting of the 2020-21 Stafford County Democratic Committee immediately following the reorganization caucus.  

Existing Members

As of December 31, 2019, membership in the 2018-19 Stafford County Democratic Committee will expire.  This means that any current member of the Stafford County Democratic Committee will need to file a Declaration of Candidacy Form to become a member of the 2020-21 Stafford County Democratic Committee.  The Declaration of Candidacy Form is available below.  For any additional questions, please e-mail the Stafford County Democratic Committee Chairman, Benjamin M. Prospective Members

Anyone interested in joining the 2020-21 Stafford County Democratic Committee must file a Declaration of Candidacy Form to become a member at the reorganization caucus.  As noted above, the Declaration of Candidacy Form is available below.  Immediately after the reorganization caucus, the 2020-21 Stafford County Democratic Committee meeting will hold its first meeting.  Anyone who has failed to file a Declaration of Candidacy Form by the deadline noted below may petition for membership after the election of officers.  

Declaration of Candidacy Form

Both existing and prospective members must file a Declaration of Candidacy Form by 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2020.  The Form is available here.  The Form may be mailed to the Stafford County Democratic Committee’s post office box or e-mailed directly to the Chairman at staffordvademocrats@gmail.com.  Applicants for membership must pay a $35 fee or request a waiver from the Chairman.  The fee is payable through ActBlue (by clicking the donate button above) or by check (either mailed with an application or at the door).

Election of Officers

At the conclusion of the reorganization caucus, the 2020-21 Stafford County Democratic Committee will hold a brief meeting to elect officers.  The positions are: Chair, Senior Vice Chair, 1st Vice Chair, 2nd Vice Chair, Parliamentarian, Treasurer, Secretary, and Sergeant-at-Arms.  Nominations for these positions will be taken from the floor.  If you are interested in being an officer of the 2020-21 Stafford County Democratic Committee and would like additional information, please e-mail the Stafford County Democratic Committee Chairman, Benjamin M.
