Call to Caucus 2026

          The Stafford County Democratic Committee (SDC) hereby announces that it will hold an assembled caucus beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2026, in the Board of Supervisors Chambers of the George L. Gordon Jr. Government Center, 1300 Courthouse Road in Stafford, Virginia 22554. The purpose of this caucus is to elect members to the Stafford County Democratic Committee. 

          Any person seeking to become a member of the SDC must file a Committee Membership Declaration of Candidacy form. Email a photo or scan of your completed and signed form to membership@stafforddemocrats.org or mail it to Stafford County Democratic Committee, 43 Town & Country Drive, Suite 119-129, Fredericksburg, VA 22405. The Committee Membership Declaration of Candidacy form must be received by the SDC no later than 5:00 p.m. on January 9, 2026.

An annual filing fee/dues of $45.00 will be collected at the time of filing for those seeking to become elected members of the committee. For those who email their application, a check for your annual filing fee can be mailed to the address above, hand carried to the caucus, or you may pay on-line at ActBlue https://secure.actblue.com/donate/2026sdcdues. Individuals encountering financial hardship may request a waiver of the annual filing fee by sending an email to the SDC Chair at chair@stafforddemocrats.org.

          There is no charge for those wishing to attend and vote at the caucus. DOORS TO THE CAUCUS WILL OPEN AT 8:15 a.m. FOR CHECK-IN. Each person participating in a caucus must provide written certification via the Caucus Declaration Certification Form stating that he or she:

• is a Democrat,

• is a registered voter in Stafford County, 

• believes in the principles of the Democratic Party, and

• does not intend to support any candidate who is opposed to a Democratic nominee in the next ensuing election.

At 9:30 a.m., THE DOORS TO THE CAUCUS WILL BE CLOSED and no person may complete a form and participate in the caucus after that time. All persons present at the caucus at the time stated in this notice are entitled to participate in the caucus if they sign the required certification. The temporary rules of the caucus shall govern the caucus until adoption of permanent rules, which shall be the first order of business following the election of the permanent chair and appointment of the permanent secretary.

         A meeting of the newly elected membership will be held following the conclusion of the assembled caucus, at the same location, for the purpose of electing officers for the 2026-2027 term. Candidates for officer positions must submit an Officer Declaration of Candidacy Form. Signed forms must be received by the SDC no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, January 9, 2026.
